What the game is

Pineapple Hi/Lo combines three-card Pineapple starting hands with split-pot high and qualifying low outcomes.

Rules of Pineapple Hi/Lo

  • Each player starts with three private cards and uses shared community cards, similar to Pineapple.
  • The high side of the pot goes to the best five-card high hand.
  • The low side is available only when a player can make five different ranks that are eight or lower. Aces count low, and straights or flushes do not hurt the low hand.
  • A player can be strong for high, low, or both. The best outcomes usually come from hands that can scoop, meaning win the whole pot.

Example calculations

  • Enter A♣ 2♦ K♠ against A♥ 3♣ Q♥ on 8♦ 7♣ K♥ to see how a low draw can pair with top-pair high equity.
  • Study whether a low draw has enough high equity to continue.
  • Add dead cards to understand how exposed low cards affect outcomes.

Strategy examples

  • Look for hands that can win both halves of the pot.
  • Use the discard recommendation to compare whether a card helps your high hand, your low draw, or your chance to scoop before you throw it away.
  • Watch for weak lows that get quartered or counterfeited.
  • Use board cards to measure how often high-only hands scoop.
