Poker Calculator FAQ

Questions and answers

Why build another poker calculator?

Because we could not find an online calculator that combined deep equity insight, a visual table workflow, and broad support across Hold'em, Omaha, split-pot games, Stud, Razz, Pineapple, Tahoe, Big O, Big Easy, and more. Our goal is simple: build the best online poker calculator in the world. We believe this is already a major step toward that vision, and the calculator is only getting sharper from here.

How do low hands work in Hi/Lo games and Razz?

Low hands are read differently from the high hands Hold'em players are used to. In eight-or-better split-pot games, the low half of the pot is available only when a player can make five different ranks that are eight or lower. Aces count as low, and straights or flushes do not hurt the low hand.

  • The best possible low is A-2-3-4-5, often called the wheel.
  • Pairs do not help a low hand. A-A-2-3-4 is not a five-card low because one rank is repeated.
  • To compare two lows, sort each hand from highest card down and compare the first card that differs. 7-5-4-3-2 beats 8-4-3-2-A because seven-low is lower than eight-low.
  • In Omaha Hi/Lo, Big O, and Big Easy, you choose exactly two private cards and three community cards for the high hand, and you choose exactly two private cards and three community cards for the low hand. They can be different two-card choices.
  • If no one qualifies for low in an eight-or-better game, the best high hand wins the whole pot.
  • Razz is different from Hi/Lo: it is a low-only stud game, so there is no high half of the pot and no eight-or-better requirement in normal Razz.
What does the poker calculator do?

It estimates or computes each player's equity for a selected poker variant using the cards, board, dead cards, and calculation mode you enter.

What is a poker odds calculator?

A poker odds calculator is a study tool that helps players understand the probability of winning a hand. It can estimate hand equity, drawing chances, winning percentages, and likely outcomes based on the cards you enter.

How does a poker equity calculator help me improve?

It helps you review decisions with numbers instead of memory or emotion. By studying similar spots over time, you can learn which hands have profitable equity, which draws need the right price, and which situations are weaker than they look.

Which poker games are supported?
What is the difference between exhaustive and randomized calculations?

Exhaustive calculations enumerate all remaining outcomes when practical. Randomized calculations sample many possible runouts, which is useful for larger game trees and stud-style games.

Can I use the calculator on mobile?

Yes. The table view adapts to mobile screens, and rotating a phone to landscape can unlock more table space for games with many players or many cards.

Do I need an account?

Core calculations are available without an account. Registered users get faster calculations plus account features such as saved hands, and paid Pro users get an even faster calculation tier for larger study sessions. In randomized modes, that extra speed can help run more trials in less time, which can make estimates more stable.

Can the calculator teach strategy?

It does not make decisions for you, but it helps you study equity, blockers, dead cards, scoop potential, and how board texture changes hand strength.

Can beginners use this poker calculator?

Yes. Beginners can use it to learn hand strength, equity, outs, drawing odds, and how board cards affect a hand. The goal is to make poker math easier to see, not to require advanced math before you start.

Is this calculator useful for advanced players?

Yes. Advanced players can use it to analyze complex hands, multiway pots, blocker-heavy boards, split-pot equities, and variants like Omaha, Big O, Stud Hi/Lo, and Razz.

Should I use a poker calculator while playing?

This calculator is best used as a study and review tool away from the table. Use it to analyze hands, understand poker math, and improve future decisions.

Does this calculator work for Omaha or Big O?

Yes. The calculator supports Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, 5-Card Omaha, 6-Card Omaha, Big O, and Big Easy, with game-specific card rules applied when you open the matching variant.

Can I use this for Hi-Lo games?

Yes. Use it to study split-pot games such as Omaha Hi-Lo, Big O, Big Easy, Pineapple Hi-Lo, and Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo, including high equity, low equity, scoop potential, and quartering risk.

Does the calculator guarantee that I will win?

No. A poker calculator cannot guarantee winnings or remove short-term variance. It helps you study odds, equity, and decision quality so you can review hands more clearly over time.
